Digital Projects Manager (I'm taking over as head of technology in June though - hence the company car mentioned in the other thread). It's more interesting than it sounds....I get to run all the web projects we have. On my current big project I have 5 outsourced teams (2 UK, 1 in Germany, 2 in India) to manage as well as our in-house team of designers, developers and account managers. Then there are always mini-projects cropping up that require delegating to account managers and developers.
My last job was a senior developer (before that developer, designer, junior developer) so it's quite challenging compared to that. As a developer you are exposed to a degree of project management in the course of your job, but it's only when I moved full-time to project management that I encountered the intricacies of budgets, finance departments, scheduling, outsourcing, resource allocation, mentoring, coaching, personal dispute solving and supplier issues. Oh and the sheer lack of co-operation people give you if they feel they have been left out of a process. It is not my fault if the client only decides you are useful to the project at the last minute lol, but I still have to appease them. I notice a few people are saying they are out of work, so in case anyone is interested I am looking for a digital account manager in North Manchester, UK. PM me for details if interested. |

Post Doctoral Fellow at the U.S. Army Research Lab - Weapons and Materials Research Directorate - Survivability Materials Branch
I'm currently researching new methods of hybridization of dissimilar materials (metal, ceramic, polymer composite... essentially more of this) for personal body armor and helmet technologies. Qualifications: B.S. Ceramic & Materials Engineering, Clemson University 2004 Ph.D. Materials Science & Engineering, Georgia Tech 2009 My dissertation led to powder processing and sintering enhancements of silicon carbide armor ceramic. I created a method to obtain the hardest silicon carbide on the market. The joys of doing what I do are numerous: I have a patent application forthcoming (although I don't own any of it, name recognition only... the joys of doing all your work under someone else's dollar and machinery). I've had my 3 seconds of fame on Modern Marvels when the came to do a piece on my professor's new armor company (Verco Materials) as I was in the shot for yeah... about 3 seconds. I was born on an Army base and lived Army all the way to my high school years, so being on the inside again feels like home. |

I'm a Claims Data Analyst for an Insurance Broker, only 3 A Levels and de facto office tech support! [rofl]
Basically I put into pretty little tables and graphs claims that various companies have had in various coverages. Such as telling "oil company" that for each of the past 5 years they've had so many EL/WC claims that cost them this much and it was due to the following causes. Most of it's sucking eggs for clients but they love graphs and shiny colours [rofl] |

Was in corrections for quite awhile and got tired of it. I have my AAA in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement and also an AAA in Criminal Justice Corrections. I am attending Ferris state university and I am currently working on a BS in Criminal Justice (gen). I will have that completed by this time next year and if I can't find employment right away I am going to work on my MA in Criminal Justice.
