One of my co-workers, who is a fan of the Batman comics, said that he didn't like it as much as he thought he would because the Joker was "too real." Since the Joker is a comic character, the darkness/realism portrayed in the movie didn't coincide with the way he pictured the Joker as a comic character.

Dunno if this makes sense to anyone, but it wouldn't be a problem for me.

That is just the thing, he was eerily convincing and three dimensional. Then again that is the direction that Christopher Nolan is taking with the series. Batman Begins (as well as Dark Knight) and Casino Royale are good examples of films that have previously been rather camp at times and made them grittier and more serious in nature.

Take a look almost all the time 2/3rd of the vote for any IMDB film come from Males aged 18-29. Even it's a Wonderful Life
Doesn't that make it the perfect benchmark for FM users?

I agree with your friend, havent seen the movie yet but still I get the feeling that is too way different of the character that was shown in the comics..

Anyway, 2 days left...I cant wait!! [no]

The Dark Knight ISNT even a 10/10 for me! I give it a solid 9/10 but I acknowledge and understand why it's rated so high,
Because Males aged 18-29 like comic book conversions?

I just really respect how it has perfected its' appeal to pretty much everyone...
...with a penis, in their twenties.

Doesn't that make it the perfect benchmark for FM users?
Not if that user is in there thirties like me.

You fogeys should be home listening to your gramophone recordings instead of watching the talkies. That's for us young folk.

**SPOILER**
I thought this movie has revived the meaning of good acting. I loved it. The only thing I didn't like is how Joker wanted to kill Batman and then all of a sudden he tried to corrupt him or he shifted his priorities from batman to killing many people. How so? I must have have missed something!

**SPOILER**Blah blah blah
The movie gets a 8 out of 10 from me, there are quite a few flaws that people seem to ignore and instead become blinded by the hype. Heath's joker was inconsistent in a few parts. For instance, he seemed to want to kill Batman at first, yet later he finds him as his superhero counterpart? To me, Heath's and Jack's joker are lacking the original jokers characteristics that the other one needs.
Since when has Joker's action been predictable and logical? I kinda thought that was the point of the joker...

sheesh.
I honestly wish that they would have just ended the movie after his transformation so that we wouldn't have to watch the kindest person in the movie transform from the white knight of the city to a cruel *******.
Once again it's the whole POINT!...

Not to be a ****, but if you're a fan of the comics..or any comic for that matter, how can you go into a movie that's based on realism and reality, and expect a cartoon performance? If you wanted to see a comic batman, just go watch batman forever!

This version delved deep into what a real human criminal/mastermind like the joker, would have to be. It's a much more realistic and dark perspective.

Anyone who has seen the movie would know that it's not popular solely based on Heaths death. The acting, as a whole, is brilliant. His death only adds to the hype, as it's got the whole "the Crow" aura around it.

so i suppose jack nicholson portrayed a much more eccentric kind of psychotic criminal

Although Batman begins and the current one are supposed to be much more serious than the previous batmans were. jack nicholson's joker and whoever played the penguin were quite comical i suppose, reflecting the comics

And I'm sure I'll love it too (when I finally get to see it) I've avoided watching a single trailer at the theater as I want to save it all til I see it in full but I don't see how a vote which is now over 80% from males aged 18-29 can be considered reflective of the 'general' population. It is heavily skewed to a single demographic. Do you think when McCain and Obama want to gauge how the people are going to vote this November they'll just ask males aged 18-29 because they are reflective of the general population?

How can you see this movie and not leave without thinking deeply about how close we are to a signle act or acts of chaos that would rip away the structure of our lives. What's so friightening is this guy just does illogical crap to a city and everyone goes nuts and there's no "right" way to end it. Look at 9/11, Who would have ever thought that two passenger aircrafts would be used as missiles. It just takes one out-of-the box act.

This movie pushes the envelope of suerhero cinema to a point that I don't know how it could be topped or even matched. I really want to know how the third film will play out.

Saw it last night, loved every second of it. Heath did a great job as a joker, just maniacal.
