I have never heard of a Nascar office pool. Are you in the South or some other Nascar hotbed?
So you are not in our Fantasy League? Supposedly it is new and improved and you should give it a shot.
Southern MD. Lotta rednecks and gearheads here. Or as they are known locally SMIBs.

Office pool is for money. I didn't play last year, but I had been in since I moved here in 02.

#92 Dodge.
Oh I know who Brian is. And the only way he's going to get ROY is if he's the only one in the running, a la 2010's Kevin Conway.

Only other new names I see are Andy Lally, Steve Wallace and Trevor Bayne.

Seems like Wallace and Bayne cannot accumulate points in the Sprint Cup.

This is a pretty dumb post.
I don't hate Junior, I really want him to win for the success of Hendrick and the sport as a whole. You took my comment a little too far, I just think it's hilarious that he's on the pole and I've seen a few media outlets that think he's already won the race just because it'd make for an awesome, awesome story.

What media outlets have already crowned Junior? I've seen none, and I'm a pretty avid reader of things NASCAR.

It's the frickin Daytona 500. It's NASCAR's Superbowl. It's the biggest race of the year, it's the Great American Race. ANYONE who earns the Pole for this race is going to get a lot of press. When you factor in that this year it's NASCAR's most popular driver, then obviously it's going to get a ton of press. No one is crowning him the winner, but indeed it's a big story when a particular driver with Dale Jr's popularity AND historic successes at the track earns the pole for this race. To expect ANYTHING different is nuts.

Nobody is crowning him the winner. He's getting the same accolades and praises and hype that ANY driver earning the pole of the biggest race of the sport would get. But it's Dale Junior, and haters gonna hate.

Yes. People watch and follow this "shit". If it doesn't intrigue you, there's a lot of other things for you to watch and follow. You don't have to keep informing us that you think NASCAR is lame. I mean, we got the point years ago. It's duly noted, good sir. Duly noted.

2 our of 3 Yahoo "experts starting Jr., but not a huge favorite among Yahoo users 78% - 63% for McMurray. That could change a bit as more picks come in. Can't say I know a whole lot about Jamie McMurray

McMurray has shown a propensity to win big races. He's the reigning Champion of this race, and he's looked real solid in practices and the Shootout. He's a solid pick.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr wrecked his Daytona 500 pole-qualifying car today in practice. While pushing Jimmie Johnson during practice, Johnson bobbled and a couple cars who were fast approaching got into him when he checked up, sending him into the inside wall.

Dale Junior will now be forced to surrender his #1 spot for Sunday's race due to having to go to a backup car...which will be his 3rd in the last couple weeks due to his crash during the Shootout.

Tough week for Junior.

Starting position means pretty much nothing. The concern about the backup car can probably be worked out in the first two stops, except that Letarte is notorious for being terrible at mid-race changes. I would still start him based on past success at Daytona.
