I've been through this on another message board. As much as that story might be designed to demonize Turkey and prevent it's entrance into the EU this kind of crime is Kurdish in origin and is not reflective of Turkey itself. When they are in Iraq they are Kurdish when they are in Turkey they some how become Turks.

And its not just the Kurds, its "a cross-section" of turkish society (note: a very small one of course, I'm not saying that this reflects on Turkey and its people on a whole!). Of course these things can happen anywhere, but "honor crimes" arent exactly popular among people from western civilizations.
