This level of icehockey has never ever seen goal like this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo729ThVB1o Russian players are like "wtf, mate?" Last year Minnesota Wilds drafted him in the first round. Mikael Granlund however played last season still in our own hockey league. And yea-a were are in the finals! [thumbup] ![]() |

Nope. High-sticking = playing the puck with the stick above the "standing up shoulder level". Crossbar of the goal is below the shoulder level. Can't be high-sticking. Edit: high-sticking the puck (knocking it out of mid-air) is judged from shoulder height. http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26493 |

Maybe for international play, but in the NHL a goal that is knocked in from above the crossbar is high-sticking. It doesn't make that goal any less impressive though. This hockey tournament doesnt mean much though as Canada, USA, Russia, and even Sweden are all missing their best players. Fun to watch though with the NHL winding down and my Wings knocked out of the playoffs. I think I'm so used to Bettman's NHL where anything beautiful is waved off. That's probably why my immediate reaction is to say it's high-sticking. I'd call it a good goal, but I could see Toronto calling it off because the heel of the blade is technically above the crossbar, even though it's the toe that guides the puck in the net. All in all, it's a stunning play, and I wish the rules around dangling and craddling were more relaxed. |

If you say so, but stuff like that is seen in the Major Junior leagues. Also, I know NHL nor north america doesn't care too much about IIHF's World Champion Hockey Games but it's still very high level of hockey. Ovechkin, Nabokov, Tavares, Kane, Koivu, Kovalchuk, Gaborik, Hossa etc etc top players from NHL are present. Don't know all the players Canada got to their team but it wasn't bad. Sweden has a lot of the young superstars in their team. |

I know but like I said "this level". Major Junior leagues aren't at this level. |

this goal style is ofter seen in junior hockey here 2 goal like that last season in the lhjmq its not common in professional game for 1 reason the defensive pressure is a high and the time really aint there + if you miss your show coach will kill you for being selfish and burning a great offensive position
but it is a cool looking way to score hehe |

I've seen ice hockey now and again on the TV, mostly highlights, and I'm amazed that ref's can actually make a call on so many goals - seems the puck is in and out in a blink of an eye. I have trouble spotting it, sometimes, even in slow motion |
